Today I 'officially' say goodbye to Doc (Marc Crewe) - a truly original (and extremely close) friend. To say that he'll be missed by many is an understatement.
Doc - without meaning to be too X-Factor about it (he knows what I mean) - this one's for you:
Thought I'd just mention that Marc Crewe was a tenant of mine for a number of years. The flat he lived in suited his personality. He described his bedroom as a tomb and said he enjoyed that. He was witty, humorous and irreverent. I considered him a friend and was called to the flat on many an evening to carry out the most basic repairs. I even fixed Marc's broken toilet on New Years Day ! Bumping into him of a morning, hungover in his denims I will miss ! I missed his passing. I hope we meet again. Fleaty.
Welcome to the Animal Disco – a blog that's been in the pipeline since before such an activity was even invented.
Here you'll find a selection of the rambles, rants, observations and even diary entries (names have been changed to protect the not-so-innocent) that assemble to represent my life. Some of these entries were published in Bristol and Bath's entirely yummy Venue magazine (which rather unfortunately 'celebrated' its last ever issue in May 2011), while others have been lying around in notebook form for two decades. Many, though, will be brand new – I finally have somewhere I can officially dump my emotional clutter. So, read, enjoy, share, and tell me what you think at your leisure, but ignore at your peril – above all, life at the Animal Disco is intended to be fun.

Thank you for your thoughtful, heartfelt comment, Fleaty. One day perhaps we'll meet and raise a glass to our much-missed friend?
